San Antonio makes brokerage company's top 10 commercial real estate markets

For those who follow real estate, we've been talking about San Antonio's stellar industrial and housing markets, and now a new report by Coldwell Banker Commercial touts San Antonio's commercial real estate market as seventh best in the nation, according to its latest rankings.
Coldwell Banker Commercial looked at 80 cities and appraised them by factors including population growth, office rank, retail rank, multifamily housing rank and the city's unemployment rate.
San Antonio scored low in some areas, but its population rank — as the sixth-fastest growing city in the U.S. — drove the Alamo City to a top-10 spot. Last year, San Antonio ranked as the 21st best commercial real estate market in the nation.
Nick Rispoli with Coldwell Banker Commercial in San Antonio said the city has experienced an unprecedented amount of growth, which has helped shelter the local economy and add new jobs.
"A couple of the leading factors contributing to this growth are the U.S. Armed Forces, and the discovery and development of the Eagle Ford Shale," Rispoli said in the report.
San Antonio is still behind its Texas counterparts Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston, but in what's rarely seen on these types of real estate ranking lists, the Alamo City beat Austin.
Austin was ranked ninth overall, down two spots from last year.
In what I've been hearing from many in the real estate industry, San Antonio has finally hit the national spotlight.
Here's a couple of other numbers to highlight San Antonio's commercial real estate market when compared to other Texas cities.
